Ya llegó the Christmas season – a time filled with joy, festivity, and regalos. Pero some familias need extra support during the holidays. December serves as an important month for those who can give back, spread happiness, and lend a helping hand.
Austin’s comunidad grows stronger when it’s united. That’s why local businesses and community organizations teamed up to host toy drives for families in need this December. We have your round-up for some locations and events to drop off joy for these días festivos.
Now Until Dec. 6: Toy drive at Amazonas Latin Market in Leander and Pflugerville
Amazonas Latin Market hosts a toy drive for children with cancer, disabilities, and at-risk youth. Drop off donaciones from now until Dec. 6 at both of their locations.
Dec. 9: La Peda Before Christmas Toy and Coat Donation Drive
Donate a toy or coat to gain free entry into La Peda Before Christmas, a networking mixer for artists, musicians, fashion influencers, photographers, and entrepreneurs. Your donation of a coat or toy gives you a chance to win a free four-hour studio session with Elevate Network. Head over to Trailr Park Studios in Buda from 6-10 p.m. to drop off your donations and enjoy the mixer sponsored by MAS Cultura, Elevate Network, Trailr Park Studios, Norf Norf Way record label and Carabuena Tequila.
Dec. 9: Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive and Breakfast with Santa
Beerburg Brewing Company hosts a festive event to accumulate toy donations for Austin Police Operation Blue Santa on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Bring a toy donation for infants up to 14 years old for a free picture with Santa. Cookie decorating and breakfast are available for purchase at this family-friendly event.
Now thru Dec. 10: J. Colunga’s Navidad en el Barrio
Todos deserve the opportunity to open up a regalito this holiday season. Lift ATX accepts toy donations for all ages and genders from now until Dec. 10 at their gym on 1005 Springdale Rd. For every donation made, Lift ATX offers a free day pass.
Now Until Dec. 10: Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive at Chuy’s Tex-Mex
Operation Blue Santa and Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurants partner for their 35th year of collecting gifts for Austin children in need. Be part of the community helping spread holiday cheer for 5,000 families. Drop off new toys to your nearest Chuy’s Tex-Mex Restaurant from now until Dec. 10.
Dec. 10: Austin Tejano Music Coalition Brown Santa Dance
Baila to the Tejano rhythms of Marcos Orozco and Los Marceles for a good cause. Bring an unwrapped toy plus a $10 cover to the Austin Tejano Music Coalition’s 12th Annual Brown Toy Drive Dance. Enjoy food and desserts plus prizes and a raffle. Join la gente at the H & H Ballroom located at 4404 Brandt Rd. on Dec. 10 from 2-7 p.m.
Dec. 14: Austin Latinas Unidas Cocktails and Toy Drive
Join Austin Latinas Unidas on Dec. 14 from 5:30-7 p.m. to gather toy donations for the Round Rock Operation Blue Santa. Bring over an unwrapped children’s gift and grab yourself a festive holiday bebida at The Rock Shot Bar in Round Rock.
