SXSW Billboard Brings Mexican Artists Christian Nodal and Estevie to Austin

Mariachi and norteño music represented at SXSW 2024.

Christian Nodal and Estevie performed at the annual event, The Stage at SXSW, at the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. Nodal showcased his signature mariacheño subgenera and performed a beloved Luis Miguel song with Estevie. Photographer Mari G. Hernandez captured Friday’s showcase.

Sonora-born Nodal is known for a fusion of mariachi and norteño music called “mariacheño.” On Friday, he performed in front of a packed crowd with a packed stage: a six-piece mariachi string and horn section, a seven-piece backing band with two percussionists, a vocalist, and an accordion player.

ESTEVIE

Nodal and Estevie sang Luis Miguel’s “Sabor a Mí”, a beloved song as a duet and one of the last songs of the night.
