Austinites honored the legacy of César Chávez at the ¡Sí Se Puede! César Chávez March and Celebration at Parque Zaragoza in East Austin on Saturday. The 23rd annual event, organized by a coalition of Latino-serving organizations called United By Our Roots, brought together residents, elected officials, families, students, school groups, nonprofit organizations and more.

César Chávez Day pays tribute to the birthday anniversary of the civil rights and labor leader on March 31. Chávez would have turned 97 this year. The day also marks the culmination of National Farmworkers Awareness Week.

Photographer René Rentería captured the inspiring moments of the 2024 community event for Austin Vida.
