SXSW Spotlight: División Minúscula

Mexican alt-punk band División Minúscula will be back in Austin this week for their fourth round of South By Southwest (SXSW) madness with three official performances this year. With four albums to their name, División Minúscula continues to ground their presence in the rock scene in Mexico and will give us a taste of what they have to offer this week. Here is their SXSW performance schedule:

Mar. 11 – The Mohawk – 1 p.m.

Mar. 12 at The North Door – 11 p.m.

Mar. 14  Buffalo Billiards -12 a.m.

Deriving their name from their hometown of Matamoros, a city serving as a minuscule division between the U.S. and Mexico, División Minúscula, began their career in 1995. The band reached cult status with the release of their first album, Extrañando Casa, in 2001.  Five year later, the release of their second album Defecto Perfecto, earned them a Golden Record and four MTV nominations and an award as Best Northern Artist (Latin America) in 2007. With their third album, Sirena, the band took a different approach with hints of country rock and classic rock influences. Though the band briefly separated to pursue their education and personal projects, they reunited and made a come back with their most recent album División.
