Festival NRMAL in Monterrey lineup announced
Monterrey, Mexico, has a new music festival. The inaugural Festival NRMAL, or F/N, was organized by the event production collective NRMAL and will take place March 13 on the grounds of the Alianza Francesa de Monterrey. That’s the weekend before SXSW brings a flood of music-enthusiast tourists to Austin, just six hours north of Monterrey.
F/N will feature performances by more than 40 international bands across four stages with a capacity of 700 people each. Among them is Banda de Turistas, the Argentine indie band we recently wrote up in our Reviews section. Read our writer Eugenia Vela’s review of Banda’s album Magical Radiophonic Heart: click here.
In addition to music, F/N will also spotlight the arts, showcasing the work of some of Mexico’s best contemporary artists.
As far as getting down there, Austinites have some cheap bus options: Autobuses Americanos has daily buses from Austin to Monterrey, while Greyhound has a round-trip ticket for $100.
Mexico’s third largest city, Monterrey is an industrial hub with a thriving music and arts scene. Its cosmopolitan feel and nightlife options for young professionals have earned Monterrey a reputation as Mexico’s Dallas.
Pre-sale tickets are available for $20 online here. View the full lineup below.
