[7/17] Preview: Peligrosa celebrates Colombian Independence Day at Empire Control Room & Garage

peligrosaFriday, July 17, is the third Friday of the month. For Latin music lovers in Austin, we know that means it’s time to party with Peligrosa at Empire Control Room & Garage. This month’s installment of the baddest Latin music residencies in the country will serve as an early celebration of Colombian Independence Day, which is technically July 20. The celebration will be on two stages.

In the Colombian spirit, performers in the Control Room stage inside include two of Austin’s purveyors of Colombian-inspired music, Kiko Villamizar and La Frenetika. Special guests Dos Santos Anit-Beat Orquesta, on tour from Chicago, round out the band lineup. The 2015 Pachanga Fest performer features former Maneja Beto frontman and Austinite, Alex Chavez, on guitar and vocals.

The DJs from Peligrosa will be on the patio spinning the best in Latin electrónica. Be ready to be in pictures all over the internet as Peligrosa photographer Quito will be taking photos. For more about Peligrosa, watch the KLRU documentary series Arts In Context episode featuring the collective here.

Empire Control Room & Garage is located at 606 E. 7th Street. Doors open at 9 p.m. 18+ welcome. Cover will be $5 for advance tickets and $8 at the door on the day of the show. Visit the Facebook event page here.
