[4/18] Preview: Grupo Sólido at Tejano Ranch

solidoTonight Tejano Ranch welcomes back the Tejano-Norteño group, Sólido. The Rio Grande City-based band is often categorized with other groups like Duelo, Siggno, and Intocable, all of whom play a style that some call “Texas Norteño,” borrowing from both Tejano and Norteño, which are related, but still quite different.

Sólido describes their sound as “romantic and melodic, ideal for dancing and singing,” and has remained popular and productive since the group’s nearly overnight rise to fame after signing with Freddie Records in the early 2000s. Their discography includes the albums Hasta La Cima Del Cielo, Nadie Como Tú (which won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album), Por Ti, Vuelve, En Vivo Contigo, Nuestro Amor, Cuidado, Que Importa, and their latest album, Te Va A Doler. The group has also been in the studio recently and is planning a new release very soon.

Long story short: It’s a good night for anyone who loves Ramón Ayala, and the faster and slightly different flavor of Norteño.

Tejano Ranch is located at 7601 North Lamar, just south of Highway 183 in north Austin. The doors open at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $10 before 9 p.m, and $12 cover after 9 p.m. 18+ are welcome. Visit the event page on Facebook here.
