✊ In honor of the 50th anniversary of Latino Studies at the University of Texas, you can virtually participate in the Movidas conference April 8-9. It’ll highlight the history of the Chicano movement in Texas and beyond. Topics include the 1970 Uvalde walkout. Panelists will reflect on life before and after the school walkout in protest of segregation and other civil rights violations.
♀️ Know a teen between 15-19? Applications are now open for the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center’s Teen Leadership Program CAMINOS. It’s a 10-month long paid internship, where teens work alongside the center”s Cultural Arts team. Applications due May 1.
✈️ Want to share your thoughts on the potential jet fuel tank farm near the McCall neighborhood? Austin City Council on April 7 plans to consider the relocation of that proposed site. Residents can reach out to their council members with thoughts about the relocation before then. An online petition has also been created.

Refugee Services of Texas is collecting car seats of all sizes for their clients. Drop off new or used car seats (in good condition) Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 512-472-9472 when you’re at the RST office so they can let you in.
