Mexico City-based band Furlafa combines the right amount of guitar, drums and synthesizers to create some throwback style retro-pop or synth-pop. Though the band is now known as Furlafa, it wasn’t always that way. Member Felipe Solorza discovers his love for music during his time in a children’s choir. This was the first step that would lead him to the guitar, bass and drums. At 17, he learned to play the drums and started his first band. With a similar background, Ramiro Fernandez learned to play the drums at 13. The two eventually met at school and came together to form Jimbo Rosso in 2007. After releasing My Little Eyes and premiering their music video for “Libélula,” the duo decides to change their name to Furlafa four years later.
Under their new name, the band recently released Rock Es Amor De Verano. The five-track EP starts off with the ‘80s influenced track “Vuelve a Mirar” and is followed by “Hard,” a song that leans more towards danceable indie-pop. In addition to their album, the duo recntly premiered the music video to their song “Hard.” In support of their EP, the band plans to go on tour in the near future.
