Portland, Oregon-based art-folk sextet Y La Bamba is fronted by singer-songwriter Luz Elena Mendoza. The daughter of a Mexican immigrant, Mendoza draws musical influences from the music she grew up hearing; mariachi, accordion and traditional rhythms from Mexico. Together with Y La Bamba band members, the group crafted a musical style that fuses elements of folk, acoustic and Latin with Mendoza’s ethereal vocal stylings. Y La Bamba’s members also include Ben Meyercord, Mike Kitson, Eric Schrepel, Paul Cameron and Scott Magee.

Currently Y La Bamba is on tour in support of their third full-length release, Court The Storm. The band will be in Austin tonight to perform a headlining show at Cactus Cafe.
