Frank, Austin’s purveyor of the artisan sausage and now local music, is the place for indie fans tonight. Austin Vida introduced the lineup you’ll see tonight to Austin this past January. We are talking about The Sound Of Curves and Ex Machina, two hot young up-and-comers playing before the incredible Hydra Melody from San Antonio.
Opening the show and currently performing in support of their latest album, Cast of The Charade Parade is The Sound Of Curves. The San Antonio-based indie-rock quintent is composed of Leonel Pompa (vocals, guitar, keys), Josh Leija (drums), Gil Martinez (guitar), Roger Maher (guitar) and Chris Rodriguez (bass). The Sound Of Curves perform at 10:30 p.m.
Austin indie-psych band Ex Machina follows The Sound Of Curves. Their music blends elements of psychedelic rock, reggae, progressive and indie. With their recent addition of a keyboard player, their live sound if much fuller than their early recordings we first heard. Fronted by the often masked Blas Moreno, the group is a name Austin music fans will be familiar with soon. Ex Machina perform at 11:15 p.m.
Headliners Hydra Melody are one of San Antonio’s best exports. They are San Antonio’s answer to Minus The Bear, Dredge or even Cursive. The band takes elements of melodic-indie rock and fuses it together with prog-rock style instrumentation and Latin percussion. Hydra Melody are currently performing in support of their new self-titled EP and take the stage at midnight.
