In honor of the movie’s 20^th anniversary, AMD, Austin Film Society and El Rey Network will present a special screening of the film on August 30 at The Paramount Theatre.

Prior to this, Rodriguez will debut the short film he made at 16, Ismael Jones and the Eyes of the Devil, featuring Carlos Gallardo. It would still be a couple of years until Gallardo became “El Mariachi,” a musician looking for work in a small town but who is mistaken for a hit man known for carrying his weapons in a guitar case. As part of the special night, following a questions and answers session, Rodriguez’s band Chingón will play songs from Desperado through Machete as the corresponding film clip is played on a digitally enhanced screen.
